posted by Aki and Poopie at mad labs and hug dogs - 1 day ago
Well no post for days then two in no time at all, I would ask you to visit the above mad labs and hug dogs, as yet they have no Greyhound stadiums. A bill might be passed to allow this to happen. They will need lots of support to stop it please help. From mad labs you can go on links to comment. The Mayor is so stupid he thinks that they will just give unwanted Greyhounds to people who want them
Below is my comment.

In the UK we have Greyhound Stadiums and the dogs are only cared for well while they are making money. That is what this is all about money; dogs that slow with age or are not fast enough to begin with are dumped, thousands end up in Rescue Centres. Many were being taken into fields and shot, this was reported only last year. It is now supposed to be stopped; it will be still going on. How naive is the Mayor to say they will just give them to people who want them, the people who race greyhounds keep on breeding trying to get that faster dog, as in the Uk you will be swamped with poor dogs that no one wants. You will not see a Greyhound dog Racer with his beloved old dog with him or in his home. For that dog could not make him any money.

It is another example of humans exploiting dogs and we totally agree with your comment!

Ay, greyhounds is one of the most punished breeds. Here in Spain we don't have greyhound stadiums but they are used to haunt and after the haunting season many of them are abandoned or killed by their "owner". Shit...

We so agree with your post. And to realize it's an international issue makes it even more saddening and frustrating. We're happy you are doing what you can to stop the action there.

BTW. Do you know Sophie? She has a new Greyhound brother (as of this weekend... he is "nameless" as yet) in her home. Thank doggness for the families that help to rehome. Or home, in the case of the grey babies.

thank you so much for posting this in your bloggie bobby. i agree with you 100%. those dumba** mayors, congressmen and senator dont know a thing about greyhounds or the implications of greyhound racing. they are only concerned with stuffing their pockets with blood-tainted money from operating this inhumane "sport'.

we hope that the remaining undecided senators finally grasp what we are all fighting for.

again, thank you so much for the bark out.

drooly kisses,

Aki

I found your blog purely by accident while searching for photos of greyhounds. I'm from New York in the US, and I have 2 rescued racing greyhounds, currently, my third old fella having passed away a year ago. These dogs are so incredly sweet, precious and intelligent and if my house were larger (it is so small!) I'd have dozens. Good luck to you in your work. Throughout the US they have a number of racing greyhound rescue groups, including the one from which we have adopted all of ours, Long Island Greyound Transport (LIGHT). Bless the beasts, as they say! Ban greyhound racing and all other forms of spectator sports where animals are forced to "sing for their supper" purely for human entertainment! That's what I say!
